Panta Illish ~ a traditional Bengali platter of stale rice (in soup) with fried Hilsa slice, supplemented with dried fish (Shutki), pickles (Achar), dal, green chillies and onion- is a popular serving for “Pohela Boishakh” festival in Bangladesh.
Panta bhaat is very popular among farmers in our country. They eat food only twice a day and both the times they eat panta as it keeps their stomach full for a long time.Unfortunately, they only have panta but not Illish. They can’t afford Illish regularly.

Hi.nice to see ur blog and after seeing this,i feel hungry.Bangla food:it’s comes actually from our culture.we eat varities of food but our main food is rice and fish.we also used to eat pitha in winter season.also we celebrate pohela boishakh with panta illish.Now a days,our teenager also interested with western food loke,first food-burger,pizza.after seeing ur blog,people are interested to having our delicious Bangla food.

HMmmmmm, i m feeling so hungry after watching the nice dish panta bhaat with hilsha fish!!!! It’s really yummyyyy….more than i can say!!! I can surely say that if anyone from any corner of the world just tastes thid meal for once everyone ‘ll be fida!!!!! Anyway i can sy that in our country there is also many other tastiest, best meal or food item which has a great future …….. We need 2 keep up those traditional food items as far as we can…..

One more thing whn a farmer is taking panata as his daily food…at dat time its for som bd ppl lik us itz occasional food…wat u fun to humanity…may b drs another reason bcoz god knows all..but i feel sometimes god is really cruel…like Manik Bondhopadhay “Ishor thaken oi vadro pollite”!~from Padma Nadir Maji….hope some great ppl lik u will do something for diz farmers at least dal,panta & a green chili rather den panta ilish…
